Food Safety and Foodborne Illness prevention from the Home Kitchen 

 

Thank you and Congratulations on taking the first steps to educate yourself on Food Safety for the betterment of yourself and your clients. Just as a chef in a restaurant, you will apply your Food Safety knowledge when preparing, selecting and serving food to your client(s).

 

 Food Safety, Foodborne illness aka (Food Poisoning) from the home kitchen is not something that is thought of or talked about in the communities.  Most people think you can only get food poisonings from a restaurant but, that is not true, it can happen in your own kitchen.  

 Did you know, that 85% of the citizens that receive home care are HIGH RISK of getting a foodborne illness.

Most home health aides, caregivers or the client themselves are not aware that 

due to their age and underlying health condition(s) they are high risk, that's why it's important to know about practicing food safety and being aware of food allergies. 

Let's not put our client(s), family member(s) or neighbor(s) that we care for at risk of getting sick from a food illness. Lets read, learn and talk about food safety, bacteria's, food allergies and contamination from the home kitchen.

   For 20 years, I was Caregiver to my late mom, along with the assistance of family, Home Health Aides and CNa's.
